RAP STAR 50 Cent50cent news has announced he will not be appearing in Sylvester Stallone’s upcoming action movie The Expendables.
He had been lined up to replace Forest Whitaker, but the casting choice sparked an internet outcry from fanboys.
Now, less than a week later, 50 Cent (real name Curtis Jackson) is suddenly unavailable. He has reportedly been replaced by actor and retired football player Terry Crews.
The 33-year-old rapper’s representatives told MTV: “50 Cent was offered the role of Hale Caesar in The Expendables. However, as he is currently in the process of completing his forthcoming album Before I Self Destruct with Dr Dre and Eminem, he was unfortunately not able to commit to the project.”
The film, directed and written by Stallone, is set for release in 2010.
In the testosterone-laden flick, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke, California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Eric Roberts, Randy Couture and Stone Cold Steve Austin are a team of mercenaries hired to overthrow a dictator in South America. Kurt Russell and Jean-Claude Van Damme both turned down roles.
Stallone had earlier tried to placate the internet uproar over 50 Cent, telling Ain’t It Cool News: “The anger of the casting of 50 Cent is understandable, but not fair.
“A player is only as good as his coach. If a man can communicate in one medium, he can communicate in another if his strengths are brought out and he has the support of well-wishers. So, trust me, the change of Forest Whitaker to 50 Cent is a good one”
